Redemption Wild Horse Nonprofit organization

With your help we’ll forge a brighter future for more Wild Horses.

We created Redemption as an act of love for the horses we serve, having faith in a better world for them and the trust this endeavor  will bring out the best in people.

Redemption is a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering refuge and a dignified life for mustangs that have found their way here from wild horse populations mainly from the desert southwest. We prepare these horses to be placed in purposeful positions, focusing on Native American communities, with the goal of supporting and revitalizing traditional horse culture.

The core belief of this organization is that the mustang has a divine nature that is true and sincere in its essence. The more time people spend with these beings, they can realize the same honest spirit and sincerity in themselves. Our dream is that both the horse and human are able to elevate their existence through this relationship.

We strive to connect with these horses in a profound way to give them a real sense of belonging in the face of their removal from dwindling range lands. We also hope everyone who comes into contact with these horses realizes an awakening of spirit, nature, and divinity.

The horse

Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride, friendship without envy or beauty without vanity?

Here, where grace is laced with muscle, and strength

by gentleness confined.

Our model

Redemption focuses on empowering young wild horses to thrive in our domestic world by providing them with care, human bonding and training until they are ready to find a permanent and loving home where they can live a fulfilling life.

Our program guides the young wild horse through a transformative process designed to develop the mindset and skills they will need to navigate Horse-Human Relationship. We believe the dignity of the horse is paramount. We know the horse is an autonomous being, and we place value on its thoughts and feelings.

We approach horsemanship recognizing the spiritual connection between us and the horse, treating the horse as a partner, and seeing every interaction as powerful opportunity for connection for both.

We foster harmonious and effective relationships with our horses by the way we care for and communicate with them. Healthy relationships begin with trying to understand the horse's needs and emotions. By placing the  horses' well-being first, the bond is strengthened, trust grows from bonding.

This is how we manifest a spiritual relationship with the horse. It is based on the intangible parts of us, emotion, belief, values, and not a superficial tactics based on fear and compliance.

We offer refuge to the horses until they are well trained to ensure they will find good homes.

When one is adopted, we are able to begin the process again with another wild horse, giving the horse a chance at a dignified existence.

Our commitment

WIld Horses from from tribal lands

Redemption finds, cares for, trains, and places wild horses that were gathered and removed from rangelands of the southwest including federally managed lands and tribal lands.

Refuge

We find young wild horses, and

provide them with care, shelter, nutrition, relationship, and training.

We strive to make a positive impact in the life of the wild horses that have been forced off their homeland.

Training

We create a bond between horse and human based on the power of dignity and understanding. We define dignity as recognizing the inherent value of another being. We do not break our horses, we work with the horse's spirit. This approach to horsemanship is based on the belief that horses have their own spirits that must be honored.

We guide them through a process and teach them how to learn.

Redemption WIld Horse Training

Placement

We place trained horses with a

new family, giving them an opportunity for a fulfilling life.

Our goal is to find a place for them with purpose and belonging, and to improve the lives of the humans through the horse/human relationship.

Support and Revitalize American Indian Horse Culture

We honor the relationship between the horse and American Indian nations including the historical importance, spiritual perspective, and modern culture and activities. Many native communities still use horses for agriculture, cultural activities, and sport. Redemption strives to partner with private, local, state, federal, and tribal organizations to place wild horses into diverse programs that provide opportunities to support and revitalize indigenous and traditional horse culture. Redemption recognizes the importance of returning trained mustangs to American Indian communities and other rural populations for use in ranching, hunting, outback packing, western sport, therapeutic programs, and other cultural activities that promote traditional horse culture.

Well trained horses can be cost prohibitive. Redemption will offset the cost of care and training through donation and fund raising in order to overcome obstacles of horse ownership for community members who would otherwise be priced out of owning a quality horse. Our desire is to reconnect people with horses so both may benefit from the relationship.

Native American Wild Horses Program
Equine Therapy with WIld Horses Program

Horse-assisted coaching and therapy

We provide horses for therapeutic programs including Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, coaching and skill building. Learning the skills needed for communicating skillfully with a horse has been shown to improve self-regulation, communication, and healthy relationship building. These techniques can also be offered in a group setting or corporate skill building.

We will leverage the horses' primordial herd instinct and drive to connect to help people learn healthy relationship skills, better non-verbal communication, and improve overall wellbeing. This primal connection can be experienced as deep feelings of security, wellness, and even a spiritual satisfaction. All of this can improve mental and behavioral health as well as relationships.
